In our reports we often have to include fields that are formatted as currency with no decimal point (e.g., $12,000). The fields are entered through INSERT>QUICK PARTS>FIELD>FORMULA. The FORMULA dialogue box has a few pre-formatted numbers such as $#,###.00 but not $#,###. So each time we have to go into the dialogue box and add a dollar sign at the beginning of #,### (or delete the trailing zeros from $##,###.00).
To leave the number formatted with trailing zeros would imply an accuracy to the values that we have calculated that does not exist.
My question is whether there is any way of modifying this dialogue box to permanently add the format $#,### as an option.
I suppose I could use a macro and, where possible, we copy and paste pre-formatted fields within the document. But I’d prefer a more elegant (and permanent) solution.
The problem has existed, of course, in earlier versions of Word.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
