I am using Visio 5 (yup the company I consult for is still there – meets the need). A lot of the work I am doing currently is creating activity diagrams for new business processes. The project standard is to number the boxes so that this number can be used as a cross-reference in the activity description in the text of the document. This is not too bad when you have only a few activities in a process, but when it starts to get big (lots of activities) this becomes a bit of a pain numbering and renumbering (has to be some logical sequence to them) as processes get changed and updated. Is there some relatively simple way to highlight these boxes and have Visio number them sequentially. What would be nice would be to select activity boxes sequentially and then have Visio number them in the same sequence thay were selected. Any insight anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. TIA. smile smile smile

FWIW, Visio 2000 has automatic numbering, so maybe this is a good reason to upgrade.

Thanks for the info. You are probably right about the upgrade. Unfortunately, shrug I do not have any control over what my employer does. smile smile smile
