Hello. I have now 4 machines on 9926. Two of them are receiving WUs fine and even better than expected, I mean that they have received WUs for O2007 that is not installed here, I use O2K on all my machines. This WU to 2007 was accepted by O2K and now I can use, read and save any text, from .doc to .docx. Great.
My two Toshiba laptops are not so blessed. I keep “Checking for Updates”, no joy. Here is what the two desktops have received.

    39779-2007

I have the KB xxxxx for the required WUs as can be seen in this .jpg, and others too pertaining to this update of O2007. How can I “force” them to D/L and install ? The numbers are :

    KB2956098
    KB2984939
    KB2956106
    kb2956107
KB2956188 and others. If I go to the MS site and ask for any of them, I get a dialogue saying that the “destination” was not found, this on the Toshiba. They were found on the desktop. Have a great day. Jean.

To get updates for the compatibility pack you must first have it installed on the two systems that are not getting those updates.

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats

      Hello.
Nice suggestion but it had been tried before. Here is what I get if I click on your URL :

      39796-Compak39796-Compak

And it does not go any further. Thanks anyway. Jean.

…Here is what I get if I click on your URL…

Try this one: MSO Compatibility Pack Direct Download

Note: the above link should cause your browser’s file download dialog to load.

          Coochin, hello.

Note: the above link should cause your browser’s file download dialog to load.

I have tried this a few times and nogo. I always get the black screen. Both desktops were fine. Strange ! Jean.

Click on “No thanks and continue”

MS is trying to be helpful by offering additional downloads it thinks may be useful to you!

        Good morning, Browni.
Thanks for the further help. Be aware that the black screen that I placed in my previous post locks me out. It freezes my Toshiba. Yes, I can see this “No Thanks and Continue” through the black, if I hit it, the black screen goes away but the prompt also does go away. I have done the Updates to O2K, 1,2 & 3 but no gain !
My 4 machines are twins as far as OS’s are concerned, all are on 9926. The only difference is in the HDW, my feeble mind would like to think that the important item here would be software. I never asked for these O2K updates but accepted them as they are a large plus to my way of using the two desktops that got updated. Why not the Toshiba ?
Again, your intervention is appreciated. Best wishes. Jean.

Do you have a non-beta system to try on?

Things can and will go wrong when using pre-release software (and afterwards as well!)

Have you used the feedback tool to report the issue to Microsoft?

        Good evening.

Do you have a non-beta system to try on?

I have two desktops that are also on 9926 and both of them got updated to Office 2007, no problem. I can see or save .docx on these two. I wish that I knew what is preventing the Toshiba to be recipient of the same update .

        All the best. Jean.

This is what I get using Coochin’s link above (I’m also using build 9926)

      Good morn, Drew.
Yes, here also, the link gave the same site but after clicking on the “Download”, the black filter on the presentation appeared and I could go no further. On the two desktops, I met with success and the Office 2007 was accepted.
Now, I am toying with the idea of cloning a desktop to a laptop, yes, daring, I am. Seems to me that no EULA is present so far in 9926. I will keep you up on this activity.
      All best wishes. Jean.
