• ODBC Connection Issue (Access 2002)

New job, new duties and trying to make it all work. This is an AS/400 shop and they want me to produce “pretty” charts and graphs, so I attempted to connect to the AS/400 through ODBC and link to the files (tables) that way. I tested it by linking to one table (small–only 5000 records). The link was successful, but Access shuts down after 5-10 seconds each time I open the mdb. This occurs even if I don’t try to access the linked table. Right now that one linked table is the only object in the mdb. Any ideas??

I don’t have any personal experience, but I’ve heard that the AS400 ODBC driver is flakey. I suppose that could cause Access to crash. What SPs have you applied?
