office 2016 pro issue ‘linked image cannot be displayed

Hi,

Running office 2016 pro  version 2205 5225.20204

about a month ago started getting some emails with “linked image cannot be displayed”. This has now expanded more emails. Have done all the research out on the web what may be the casuse of the issue and verified that the setting are correct etc. but no change. Also ran office repair in case a file was corrupted, no difference here either. Checked with the isp that i use for my internet and email and had them do checking on there end.  Note that with the isp you get a webmail version of outllook style. with the webmail version all emails are correct and no missing items. The isp email tech say it is something with my outlook on the pc. Anybody have an idea of what is occurring here.  thanks wayne

Mail software these days doesn’t display linked images unless you ask it. This is to limit tracking / malicious links. Maybe McAfee is attempting to do this for you.

Hi,   went and uninstalled the security software (mcafee) to see if it was causing the issue. With no security software installed stil receiving the “linked image cannot be displayed” when opening certtain emails under outlook on office 2016 pro. So it appears with was not the security/antivirus sofware.  As noted this is happening in outlook and NOT under the webmail version that the internet vendor uses. both receive the same email work on webmail not outlook.  Not sure what else to look at here. Any ideas and I have tried all the known tems i could find on the internet to correct this.  thanks

Hi,  just  an update on the above issue. Some of the webmail is now starting to get missing images. What could the mail servers be doing now. Thanks

Or your browser does the limiting / or your AV / or your ISP / or broken internet.
We need more information about what images are missing and where the email comes from to advise further.
