AskWoody PlusMarch 11, 2019 at 11:24 am #340081I am a woody plus member, I accidently deleted the latest “Ask Woody plus” newsletter. I was clicking the link to the latest article ( Office: A new Office app brings all of the Office programs under one roof) and the link would take me no where! I had to search through my email trash and open the email to gain access!!! Why??

AskWoody_MVPMarch 11, 2019 at 12:04 pm #340113It is confusing that Woody posts individual entries for each newsletter article without any link to the article or newsletter (so ignore “See the full post at:).
When Woody posts “Details in this week’s AskWoody Plus Newsletter 16.9.0”, you have to click Newsletter/Alerts in the top navigation bar, then the link next to “Issue 16.9.0 – 2019-03-11 – AskWoody Plus Newsletter:”, then the link to the article “One new Office app to rule them all”.
Perhaps there is some method to the madness? I suspect it may be caused by not wanting broken links to remain after the newsletter becomes available only to Plus paying members.

ManagerMarch 14, 2019 at 11:57 am #341625That’s exactly the problem. There’s also a timing problem.
When we finally move to having the newsletters only available to Plus members, leaving links in the main blog (which will always be free) to the newsletters (which will be Plus for at least a few weeks) will screw things up.
Also, the newsletters are posted here after they’re sent out. It’s a chicken-and-egg problem, similar to the one I have with Computerworld references back to this site.
I don’t have a good solution….

byw, Here in the UK, the install only seems to work in ‘US English’ and not ‘UK English’.

AskWoody LoungerMarch 13, 2019 at 6:41 am #341071I’m not sure of the value of this app, except for bringing together all my recently used documents across most of my applications. I say “most,” because, while it shows all my applications for Office 365 ProPlus, my Project and Visio applications are not visible. I’ve left Microsoft my “feedback” [what the h*** ever happened to the word “opinion”] on the omission.
Thank you though for letting me know about it and giving me the chance to explore it.

AskWoody PlusMarch 14, 2019 at 9:44 am #341589I installed this APP on March 12 after reading the write up. Initially, it seemed to be a good addition. Today, March 14,2019 when I tried to use the app, I got the Blue Screen saying system service exception. After restarting my PC and I tried to use the office app my PC completely froze up. I uninstalled the app.
I am using Windows 10 Pro version 1809 build 17763.253
Any thoughts? Bottom line for me is that I really do not need this app but it would free up space on my task bar

AskWoody LoungerMarch 15, 2019 at 7:34 am #341882… I am using Windows 10 Pro version 1809 build 17763.253 Any thoughts? Bottom line for me is that I really do not need this app but it would free up space on my task bar
Started the thing about twice and changed themes. Testing build 17763.379 right now… at least it didn’t break for me. Just, don’t really see how it’d free up any space on _my_ taskbar, so not even that much use from this thing.
Though it’s clearly a workflow thing, designed to facilitate the move to all-cloud environments. What with the “upload and open online” function the app has, and… well, once the online versions have all the necessary features, maybe it’ll even be useful for someone eventually.

AskWoody PlusMarch 20, 2019 at 2:17 pm #343744I recently bought and installed Office 365 on 4 computers. I like the new office app and started using it right away. After the install on a Dell Precision laptop office app splash screen comes up with 4 dots going across. I tried to download from Microsoft store, but it tells me I already have it and cancels the install. So I attempted to uninstall office app in Windows 10 apps and features, but it said it was going to uninstall office. I tried office repair, but it didn’t work. Is there anything else to try before reinstalling office?
