The Office toolbar in my Office 2000 installation won’t stay “always on top” even though that attribute is checked under Customize/View/Options. Sometimes it just disappears behind a maximized app window, but when I return to the View/Options screen, uncheck and then recheck the “Always on Top” check box, it behaves (for a while). Anyone know how to spoof it into staying there all the time?

A wild guess (how I solve most of my problems). It could be that another app is set to be “always on top” & they’re fighting. If you have TweakUI, check the box under Explorer that says to save settings on exit, then close the shortcut bar after you’ve unchecked & rechecked it to be on top. Then reboot. See if that helps. As I say, a wild guess.

You can’t have more that one thing on top. Some programs and web pages will open with the Always on top on and something has to give. I have found that using the “Auto Fit into Title Bar Area” seems to take care of this MOST of the time.
