This one involves multiple versions….
Until a couple of weeks ago, I was running Office 2019 on Windows 10, where my copy of OneNote was installed as a separate download from Microsoft.
I recently converted to where I’m using a subscription to Microsoft 365, and having problems with synchronizing a couple of OneNote notebooks that I share with co-workers.
I think what’s going on is a matter of proper user IDs in Microsoft 365. I did my original install of Office 2019 several years ago, where the user ID I originally used no longer exists (I shifted to a different email address), but I never updated my installation of Office to show use the current email address.
Following conversion to Microsoft 365, I noticed errors from user ID conflicts (and where I am using my current email address), but I found that there were actually 4 email addresses listed. Besides my current and former email addresses, an address on a different Microsoft tenent (I have addresses on two different Microsoft-hosted email servers), as well as an email address connected to the second server that was only briefly valid. Both of the latter two addresses have never been used with Office or Microsoft 365.
I went through and discarded all except my working email address (via logouts), but the result of that is that there are a couple of notebooks that are not synchronizing, because they are associated with the old email address. As expected, I can’t log back in to Microsoft 365 with those credentials.
How do I reestablish full access to those notebooks?
The only thing that I can think of is to unsubscribe from them, and then have another member re-invite me. Is that the best way of going about it, or is there something better?
