Open Documents in Task Bar List (Excel 2003)

Periodically, when I open numerous documents in Excel, the Microsoft Office Excel button on the taskbar flashes green.The last document that I try to open won’t open. Is this possibly a RAM issue? What else might cause that?

It could also be a timing problem. The problem probably wouldn’t occur if you opened the same workbooks one by one, or in smaller groups.
Do you have a particular reason for opening a large number of workbooks at once? I tend to get lost if I have more than 4 or 5 open.

Actually, I have no choice about this matter. We have tons of files that we are referring to frequently and this is how they want it done. It doesn’t seem to matter at what pace I open the files–one at a time–two or three–or twenty! I’m going to try saving the ones I can as a workspace and see if that helps.

Is it always the same workbook that causes the problem? I can open 50 workbooks without problem, but I’ve never tried opening hundreds at a time.
