I just downloaded and installed “Open Hardware Monitor” after reading the column by Deanna Elveen. It was a very informative article.

However, when I started the program, the window that opened was nearly unreadable. The columns were too narrow to read the complete OHM Screen

data and the column headers were so narrow in height that you could only see about 1/10th of the letters.

I searched the internet and the ‘openhardwaremonitor.org’ website for information but found nothing.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

Thanks for your help and time.

Did you run it “as Administrator”?

Did you extract it to a location you have full rights to, like your Desktop?

Try scrolling back to the top and ‘grabbing’ the column separators to change the visible width.

      Added:

Check your Desktop font scaling settings.

      Satrow,

Thanks for your help. Yes, I did install the software using Administrator privileges.

By holding very carefully on the mouse in the header column, the smallest arrow I’ve ever seen became visible. I was able to resize the column width.

I tried every way I could think of (even using the magnifier) to adjust the header row height, but no luck. I know what the header texts are, so this is not a deal breaker.

      I appreciate your help!

Okay, close OHM and move its folder to your Desktop. Now run it as Administrator.

Still the same? Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display is where I see the Desktop font scaling control (on W7), should be accessible via the right-click on your Desktop > Personalization (I think). Explore that to change the font scaling – start from 100% and see what changes when you open OHM next.

      Satrow,

I moved the folder to the desktop.

Again, ran with Administrator privileges and it made no difference.

Since I’m using Windows 10 Pro, the control panel has no scaling adjustment. However, right-clicking the desktop brought me to ‘Display Settings’. Under display settings was the ‘Scale and layout’ adjustment (default: 250%).

I changed to 300% and 350% and the display got larger each time. But, again, it made no difference.

I can use OHM as it is. As long as the value columns can be resized, I know what the column texts are.

You’ve been a big help. Thanks again.
