Opening Works file without Works (Excel 2002)

I received a *.wdb file from someone who is trying to compare a list with mine (mine is saved in Excel) – but I don’t have MS Works nor do I want it. I just need to be able to open this file – is there a data viewer available from Microsoft in order to view such a file?
I tried to associate it with an existing application, but I got forwarded to Microsoft – they in turn said they didn’t recognize that file extension and sent me to CKNOW.com. I know it is a Works file; I just want to be able to open and print and/or save it to another format.
(I’ve attached the file (zipped – I can’t upload a wdb file) in case anyone were to ask for it later on.)

The easiest solution is to ask the sender to save the file in another format that Excel recognises – see Works: Sharing Works Files with Other Programs

Alternatively there are third party converters but these are not free, an example is MS Works Spreadsheet (*.WKS) and Database (*.wdb) files to Excel 97/2000/XP/2003 Converter

According to a post by Myrna Larson in the Microsoft Office OnlineOffice Discussion GroupsExcel:
“You need to either (1) convert it with a program like Conversions Plus, $70, or (2) open it with Works and save in an Excel format, or (3) find a friend who can do one of these things for you.”

In case your friend hasn’t sent this to you in a new format yet, I have Works at home and have saved it in a .xls format for you. It was a works database, not a spreadsheet, so I didn’t have an option to save it as an Excel file directly…had to go to a .csv file first. Consequently, there are no headers in the file.
