I’ve been stumped on this for far too long. I present it here in hopes someone will recognize it and have an answer.

We are a single office/domain network with 50+ workstations using Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2010 in the Pacific time zone with servers and workstations set to automatically update for daylight savings time. Though, I don’t think this is DST related as I’ll explain.

We’re a law office so our assistants manage two or more calendars. Their own and at least one attorney calendar.

One of our assistant views her own and her attorney’s calendar side by side using the Day/Week/Month view and the Day option, side by side, business hours 8 to 5. On the left her appointments show up with the correct time. His on the right, however, are off by one hour later. If she opens another user’s calendar, that user’s appointments are also off by one hour later. If she opens the attorney’s appointment to see the details it does show the correct time. It’s when viewing the calendars that the other user’s calendars appointment times are off. Here is an example:

Interest to also note, if she goes to another mailbox area like her mail or contacts, and returns to the calendar area, the attorney’s appointments show up wrong. If she changes her calendar view, such as changing from day to week and back, the view corrects itself and the attorney’s appointments show the time correctly. When she goes back to another area and comes back to calendar, it’s right back to being wrong again.

I could see this as a possible DST issue if we looking at appointments during the DST change over periods in spring and fall. But this has been happening for many months. Also, in the fall we go back one hour, not forward. These are showing as forward an hour.

Everything points back to the user, not the mail system or the attorneys. Back in July I made a new mail profile on her computer but the problem has continued.

This is only happening on her computer. No other complaints and those attorneys’ calendars look fine on my Outlook.

What in the world is this? How can I fix it?

I also just tried resetting her Day/Week/Month view. No change, though I discovered something else. When the times are showing up wrong on her attorney’s calendar simply using the calendar’s scroll refreshes and updates the attorney’s appointments to the correct time.

Perhaps in the attorney’s set up it is not refreshing correctly. If you create another delegate for this person’s calendar, on another machine, does the problem maifest itself with the new delegate’s appointments? If so then there is either a set up on the attorneys PC or in the server account that needs changing.

It is viewing correctly on the other assistant’s computer. It is also viewing correctly on my computer.

Another thought, is the attorney in question synching with say and I phone, and has the setting to use the phone time?

Nope. His phone is not connected to the network in any way. Neither does the assistant. He also has a Citrix XenApp remote profile for when he travels but that server’s time zone and DST setting are correct. Also, none of the other remote users have this problem.

Years ago I would send emails to a colleague on the other side of the room.
His replies cam back to me one hour BEFORE I sent them – well that is what outlook told me.

Both our computers had the correct time – but his computer had a “Country” setting that had a time zone which was 1 hour away from G.M.T.

That was an easy fix – when I found it.

Sure sounded hopeful but I checked and they both are correctly set to United States and English U.S.

The only instance where I have seen it if the DST patches were not correctly or fully applied to both a server and workstation. In Australia we extended DST and a new patch was released, but in some instances this needs to be re-applied annually. It may be worth checking if the patches are still being applied.
