    Hi – I have noticed … (I did a quick PowerShell “Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Product | Select-Object -Property Name “)

that I’ve got something called “Outils de verification linguistique 2013 de Microsoft Office – Francais” installed

Which seems a bit odd, as I’ve got a UK English Windows 8.1 x64 system, with Office Professional Plus 2013 x64,
(when I installed Office, I did a custom install, selected everything, then un-checked Lync & InfoPath)

    Is that “Normal” ?

On further digging, I’ve also got

      Microsoft Office Proofing (English) 2013
Microsoft Office Proofing Tools 2013 – English
Microsoft Office Proofing Tools 2013 – Espaรฑol

So I guess it is normal – just seem a bit odd that the French stuff is actually in French

Les Outils de vรฉrification linguistique Microsoft Office permettent l’รฉdition dans des langues supplรฉmentaires.”

Welcome, Bob, to your first post!
Did you turn off Additional Languages (or whatever they now call it) when you installed Office?

Nope – all I did IIRC, was to (run setup from the x64 folder), select Custom, select the top item, and change it to install everything (to disk), and then un-select Lync & InfoPath – and then proceed with the install
I don’t remember seeing any language stuff listed in items to be installed folder structure

I’ll spin-up a VM and try setup again

I’ve just installed Office 2010 Pro Plus on several machines, and I had to go through the default options presented in Customise with considerable care to get what I wanted.

Hi – just to clarify, I’m not “moaning” about the language packs being installed (due to my good or bad selections during install)

It’s more of a query, as to why the French Language Pack’s title appears in French, but why the eg. Spanish (Espaรฑol) LP’s title is in English
      – I don’t know how the other Languages Packs appear in the list of installed things
      – When I get time, I’ll download & install some other LPs

Just to clear-up (my misconception) – “Les Outils de vรฉrification linguistique Microsoft Office permettent l’รฉdition dans des langues supplรฉmentaires” – is NOT a Language Pack – it’s a Proofing Tool”

In the ENU version of Office 2013, as part of a Custom Setup, under Proofing Tools, there is a choice of English, French, and Spanish

Out of curiosity, I downloaded and installed some 80-odd “other-language” Proofing Tools, and some 60-odd Language Packs (I couldn’t get a few of the Right-to-Left languages, due to their “Next” button being off-screen)

The Language Packs all seem follow the following naming convention:
        e.g.
Microsoft Office Language Interface Pack 2013 – Монгол
Microsoft Office Language Interface Pack 2013 – Tรผrkmenรงe
Microsoft Office Language Interface Pack 2013 – Cymraeg
Microsoft Office Language Interface Pack 2013 – كوردیی ناوەندی

But of the Proofing tools Languages, some (roughly 1/2) of them follow the following naming convention:
        e.g.
        Microsoft Office Proofing Tools 2013 – தமிழ்
Microsoft Office Proofing Tools 2013 – Espaรฑol
Microsoft Office Proofing Tools 2013 – hrvatski

The rest of the Proofing Tools languages have gone their own way (like the French):
        e.g.
Korrekturverktรธy for Microsoft Office 2013 – Norsk (nynorsk)
Nรกstroje kontroly pravopisu pro Microsoft Office 2013 – čeština
Narzędzia sprawdzające pakietu Microsoft Office 2013 — polski
        „Microsoft Office 2013“ tikrinimo įrankiai – lietuvių k.
Εργαλεία γλωσσικού ελέγχου του Microsoft Office 2013 – Ελληνικά
        Cรดng cụ Soát lรด̃i Microsoft Office 2013 – Tiรช́ng Viรช̣t
