I dont know how much of this issue may lie with my broadband provider, email provider, or with my Outlook actions.
I sent an email to a distribution list of 29 people plus 1 direct. One of the names in the list was mine. I got the message, assumed everybody else did, but no-one seems to have received it. The message was not big (50kb) and had no attachments. The names in the list were quite long – though only 30 they span 5 lines in the field display.
I prepared another distribution list with my originating plus my 5 other email accounts in exactly the same way, and sent the same message. It worked to all my accounts. I tried this trick again with my test circulation list in the To, cc, and bcc fields. This worked as well. The returning message shows the list in the message and in the header as going to the to and cc fields, but I only received one set of messages. FIRST QUESTIONs does outlook spot duplicates in the incoming message and suppress them as redundant? If not, might something be going on at my email provider that does the same thing?
SECOND QUESTIONs. Are there any limits on number of characters permissible in distibution lists? Are distribution lists now handled differently because of anti-spamming action. I have tried using alternative email providers to no avail.
THIRD QUESTIONs Can anyone think of what might be going on here and suggest other tests that I can carry out to narrow things down? Has anyone met this before?
Thanks for any advice
