When I change from one email to another, sometimes an orange wiggly line comes up on the email being closed. At that time I occasionally get the OL not responding error and I have the option to recover. On recovery, which works very well, I lose my reading pane settings which I have to re-set.

This has been happening for some time, probably since the installation of WIN8. I uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2007 Small Business and did all updates after upgrading from 7 to 8 as it broke OL on the upgrade. Everything else works fine on OL and the crashes are not too frequent, but after a year or so of this, it is getting annoying. I have lots of empty disk space and 16 GB of Ram, so I do not think it is a memory issue. I have gone through all versions of WIN8 from the beginning to 8.1u and updates have not improved this problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks Bruce,

I successfully did the above. I had 78 errors. I hope it was as simple as that, but it will take time to find out.
