I cannot get to the Outlook dialog box that allows me to add a .pst type folder.
When I right click on the Outlook desktop icon, all I get is a dialog box titled “Internet Accounts”. This dialog box only allows me to add,
delete or modify my internet mail accounts. When I’m in Outlook and I check “Help” and “About Microsoft Outlook”, it comes up and indicates
“Internet Mail Only” directly under the Microsoft tradename info (the second text line in the dialog box). I ge this regardless of which
Outlook icon I right click on: the Control Panel version of “Mail”, the root directory with the Outlook program, the desktop icon etc. All
give the same “Internet Accounts” dialog box.
The problem is, I cannot get to the dialog box that allows me to add a .pst type folder. I re-installed Outlook. I did not remove or
delete it first, just re-ran the installation from the CD: same issue. I deleted the icon from the desktop and re-entered the Registry
Key to get the original Outlook icon back on the desktop: same problem. In “Control Panel” ==>> “Add/Remove Programs” there
is only the MS Office program, not an individual Outlook program so I would have to delete in its entirety and re-instal (not my
favorite pastime but if it must be it must be).
Any idea(s) as to what I did wrong during installation that would result in this situation and how to correct it ?

When you say “Add,” I’m not sure whether you want to create new, empty Personal Folders or open an existing file. Either way, once you’ve started up Outlook, the most direct route is to use File>New or File>Open, and look toward the bottom of the fly-out menu for Personal Folders file(s).

Actually, I used Outlook 2000 in Corporate/Workgroup mode, so your menus might be a bit different than mine were…

Maybe I didn’t word my problem properly, let me try it this way:
When you (jscher2000) right click on the Outlook desktop icon, you get a dialog box that is
titled ” Properties “, I don’t. My (Nucthat1) dialog box title is “Internet Accounts”. Yours has three
tabs labelled “Services”, “Delivery” & “Addressing”, I don’t have those. You have a box that
says “Show Profiles”, again, I don’t. My dialog box only allows me to set up internet mail accounts.

Actually I (jscher2000) run Outlook 2002. smile Anyway, the word “Services” is associated with the Corporate/Workgroup Mode of Outlook 2000. In Internet Mail Only mode, your menus say “Accounts” instead of “Services”.

If you prefer to use Corporate/Workgroup Mode, there is a “Reconfigure Mail” button somewhere in the Tools>Options dialogs. MIcrosoft says CW mode is slower with POP mail than IMO mode, but I’m not sure that’s enough reason not to use it. If you have an IMAP account, however, you’re stuck: Outlook 2000 in CW mode does not support IMAP.

          Hope this helps.

The “Reconfigure Mail” was what I was looking for. Thanks.

You should be able to find some of the Dialog under “Tools > E-mail Accounts > View or change E-mail Accounts (or Add email accounts) – you can add a new Outlook pst file from there if one doesn’t exist
