    This first happened to my partner a couple of months ago and I thought he may have done something for this to happen. Today it happened to myself.
    I opened my Inbox with 10 new messages and around 120 read messages. Without doing anything, all emails disappeared one by one, starting from the bottom up until the Inbox was empty.
    Has anybody any idea what causes this?

      Look for either an outlook rule set to move files to a different folder or some third party thing “reading” your email and then your view is set to show only unread.

        Filtering? Third party app? Plug in?

        There’s something else reading or handling that inbox.  Or another location that has pop set up to remove email from the inbox.

        Depending on how big your ISP is can you reach out to their help desk?
