    I am used to using Outlook 2000 in Windows 98 SE. Every time I exit Outlook it would create an updated

      was it making a backup copy? you need the backup addin from the MS website, however i think it is causing problems in ol2002.

          the pst is used for mail and it’s “updated” everytime new mail arrives etc, not just when you close outlook. the time stamp on the file is updated when you do a send/receive or open or close outlook.

          it works the same way in winxp as it does in win98 – except i think the file is hidden. either search for *.pst using the include all hidden files and fodlers or enable hidden files to show in tools | folder options | view. The location should be here:
          C:Documents and SettingsLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook
