I work within an organisation that rolls out an auto-signature to all its users. This forces all emails sent to be in html format, and adds in the company logo at the bottom of the email. It all looks rather nice until a couple of weeks down the line…
After a point when a user receives an email, or saves an email they are working on the logo images change to the ‘wee red cross’ signifying that the image is not available. On further investigation it appears that the outlook temporary internet folder is stuffed full of the logo and can hold no more. Each instance of the logo that makes it to the temp folder is listed with the file name and number appended (logo (0).jpg, logo (1).jpg…). When it gets to the 100th instance of the logo (ie logo (99).jpg) it seems that no more can be created, and we start to see the red cross appearing. We then have to clear out all the logos from the temp folder and all will work again until they get back to logo (99)jpg, and it all needs cleaned out again.
Is there a way that we can stop this from happening?? And why, when we have a standard build of machine (Outlook 2003 SP2), roll out the signatures in the same way, seem to happen to some people more often then others (short of them sending out and receiving more emails!)
Any help/comments appreciated!
