    Hi all

    Using Windows 10 Pro and Microsoft Office 2019 Professional Plus – all is up to date.

    I am unable to migrate an old PC to a new one due to corrupt system files so I am currently manually transferring all data etc. over to the new one.

    The issue I am having is connecting Outlook to a single Gmail account, no matter what I do I get the same error “We couldn’t log on to the incoming (IMAP) server. Please check your email address and password and try again”

    Note: The email address and password are correct.

    What I have tried >

    Outlook works no problem on another PC here so I simply copied the incoming and out going settings to no avail.

    Also I can log in to the gmail account in the browser with no issues.

    I have done research and the only advice I can come across is to “De-activate 2FA” and “Allow less secure app access”

    I have successfully de-activated 2FA.

    As of 2022 google has removed the setting to Allow less secure app access.

    Any help greatly appreciated ……

      Have you tried fixing system files by running :

      DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
      DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
      DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
      followed by SFC /scannow

      Have you tried repair/install keeping apps and data before resorting to manually moving your data ?

        God no it is pumping out blue screens very unstable. Don’t want to loose data. Not backed up !

        If I could get outlook to connect to gmail all would be right in my world …

      My bet is you need to sign up in Outlook with a one-time generated Google APP password – NOT with your normal login password. This info should help: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en&sjid=17689072118222473344-EU

      This happens every time your IP address changes or you use any new mail client to access GMail (or Yahoo, for that matter).

        Google now requires 0Auth2; the traditional username/password within a third-party mail client does not work. When you set up an account in a third-party mail client, you should see a web-based Google login screen.

        While you’re at it, you may want to consider dumping Lookout in favor of Thunderbird.
