Does anyone use WORD as the email editor in Outlook 2002? Predictably, within 5 minutes of creating and email, and while still in WORD, Outlook will hang. I have to kill it to regain control.

      camphill,

I don’t, because of that very reason.

In fact I’ve read over and over again in the Woody’s Watches about how he suspects that using Word as the editor is the root of many, many evils, including random (or not so random in your case) hangs.

In Outlook 2002 you can change it in:
      Tools/Options/Mail Format (tab)/ uncheck ‘Use Microsoft Word….’

In my experience, its not worth the diminished performance.

However, if you opt not use Word as the default editor, you can still use Word as the editor of an individual message by going to:
      Actions/New Mail Message Using/Microsoft Word

Thanks. Reinstalling XP SP1 seems to have taken care of the problem.
