Does Add Page Numbers To Your Document In Word 2007 help?

Make sure that the header and footer margin aren’t set too small – if they are, the page number will be outside the printable area of the page, and hence it won’t be visible in the printed document.

The margins are fine – I’ve taken all the steps listed in the link you provided – this is what I get when I try to insert page numbers

Do you mean that the Bottom of Page submenu doesn’t fold out?

I guess that’s what’s happening – I get that little side panel thing with grayed-out words and that’s as far as I can go.

Try the suggestions from MSKB article The page number options and the gallery styles may be unavailable or missing in Word 2007.

You are soooooooooo good – scanned this article – recognized lots of words I’ve seen on my screen in Word 2007 attempting to insert page numbers (jeez! you’d think that would be a really, really academic feature, wouldn’t you? HA!) – Am leaving in a few so will try this remedy first thing tomorrow.
