I have a 400 page spreadsheet. My pages are numbered Page 1 of 400, Page 2 of 400, etc. I want to print ONLY page 13 and I want my page number to say Page 13 of 400. How do I make that happen (without manually changing the footer for page 13)?

In the File | Print dialog, enter 13 in the From and To boxes in the Print Range section. On;y page 13 will be printed, with the correct page number.

Actually, I tried that and it prints the entire document. I’ve also tried printing a selection and I get Page 1 of 1 on the footer. I’ve also tried selecting the print area and printing it, but that doesn’t work either. I find it hard to believe that if I want to print one page out of an Excel spreadsheet, I have to change the footer manually (i.e., Page 13 of 409 pages)!

I don’t understand that – I tried it with the settings as in the screenshot I posted, and got a printout of one page with “Page 13 of 36” (the sheet I tried it on has 36 pages when printed in its entirety). I tried it in Excel 2002 and in Excel 2003, and it worked correctly both times.

Printing a selection or setting the print range to a single page will not do what you want – both will result in Page 1 of 1.

What do you get when you print page 13 in accordance with Hans’ instructions?
Please copy the code from your footer and post it.

Referring to the picture in Hans’ post 663,802 , and assuming you have selected pages From: 13 To: 13, what do you see if you click on Preview?
