It would be helpful to have paging in threads, rather than one long continuous scrolling page.

We are aware that there are some issues with nesting inside topics, until we can find the cause and get a fix implemented, it’s better to use the Reply then Quote links before typing out your reply to ensure the reply is tagged onto the correct post.

I’m not sure exactly what “paging in threads” means….

The old comments, which we brought across from the original AskWoody blog, aren’t nested. That’s unfortunate, but it was a result of the move to the new bbPress software.

The new replies are threading correctly. I think. I hope.

Not sure what paging in threads refers to.

“Paging in threads” refers to how many types of forums create new pages when there are a certain amount of replies. On some sites, after 20-30 posts a new page is created for the posts to flow over into.

Perhaps he means instead of having to scroll and scroll and scroll it would be easier to read the LOOOOONG threads by flipping pages – instead of 600 miles long, it could be 10 pages wide with 1..2..3..4… at the bottom(?)

OIC! Yes, definitely. We’d need page navigation buttons, too.

      I think the original poster:

was thinking of how your AskWoody blogging software used to work pre-Lounge. I think after about 50 *Comments*, it would create a *new page*, a page #2, and then #3 …. etc., but it did not number the pages.

Instead, there was a link at the top left saying *if you want to see older comments* click here. Once you went back to the older comments, a new link at the top right would show up saying *if you wanted to see newer comments* click here. If there were enough posts so there were 3 or more pages, then you would have both links at the top depending on if you wanted to go forward or back in time!

I don’t know if you recall, but when we were testing the Lounge software, and the order of the posts was changed so the most recent post was at the top of the Topic, rather than at the bottom, all of a sudden the forum software started creating a page 2 after about 10-15 comments. There was a navigation link at the top with numbers inside a box so you could switch to the next page, and back, or forward.

I thought the forum software was going to do that when you brought it to the Live Lounge here, but apparently not. Or, I thought it would work like your old blog software was working–maybe not enough comments in one Topic yet to make it add the next page!?????

Maybe it’s there for the asking–just need to *enable* it? And, it can probably be set to whatever number of Replies are needed to trigger the next page creation.

I’m having the devs look into it. I probably changed something in the beta – and then wasn’t smart enough to change it again when we went live.

      @ jmwoods

It’s already implemented in the Replies Created section for individual lounge members (navigation buttons at the top and bottom, which is nice).

Exactly like that in the test Forum……
