I am suffering from a severe case of ‘sticker shock’ on discovering that what appeared to be an update to RoboForm is an upgrade to a new version which is more expensive than I can handle if I upgrade all of my licenses. To top it off, there is a new version of GoodSync in the works from the same people, and that is a very powerful program that I would hate to lose, but which may mean another hit in the pocketbook.

If I can get my act together, I can live without RoboForm, and there is only about one link I can think of that I wouldn’t save to a browser.

I am now browsing for affordable password managers (including comments on the pros and cons of letting the browser do it), and I welcome suggestions from knowledgeable users.

I have been using Last Passfor quite some time. I use the free version. All my info is encrypted on the Last Pass site. Last pass will automatically add sign on info, and automatically sign on if you wish or not, you choose. You can have Last Pass remember your Master Password (this is the password you have to use to sigh on to Last Pass. At worse you woud have to remember this one Master Password, Last Pass remember all others) Last pass includes password generation, and form fill capabilities that work very well. I can access my info from any PC simply by installing Last Pass plugin on that PC. Last Pass works with all browsers I have tried (I.E., FF, Chrome).

Check out the pricing for Roboform Everywhere. Seems pretty reasonable to me for unlimited computers/devices.

KeePass is open source, portable and has ports to most devices.

Hi,
I’ve been using KeePass for the last few weeks. Very straightforward. I especially like the keyboard shortcuts to open a browser, go to a site and fill in the ID and Password.

There is another program Abine which I’ve begun using and am really liking ALOT! It not only has the
capability of opting out of Targeted ad networks, Web trackers, and Cookies, BUT has a Logins and Passwords which stores your logins/paswords in encrypted form on your computer. Once you visit a site it remembers your ID/PW/e-mail and when you go to the Logins page, you click say WindowsSecrets and all your info comes up and you have the option of logging in or editing, creating anonymous identies etc. I used to use Roboform and even tried KeePass, but have defected to the ease of use of this program. It is also FREE. Each site has a Privacy concerns screen which lets you know how many tracking cookies are in use and how many you have blocked etc. There area 119 Targeted Ad Networks that I’ve opted out of just by selecting all of them in the following screen. Once you d/l it you have 1-4 steps to enter some info and then you Start using it and it gives you instant access to what is going on at each site you are using (in FF there is the add-on but it’s not been developed for IE yet) Abine for FF

I wonder if anyone else is using it. I’ve shared it with friends and they are all really happy with how it’s running and working. One ditched his Roboform subscription in favour of using Abine. Just another option
