• Paste Word Bullets

When pasting bulleted text from Word into a Powerpoint, the bullets do not translate correctly – they come across as clear text. When you delete them the remaining text formats to the left of the area/object that you pasted them into.

If you eliminate the bullets from the text in Word prior to CUT, it works.

I need to retain formatting information if possible, so I can re-create the format in Powerpoint. Any suggestions??

Have you experimented with “Send to Powerpoint” rather than cutting/pasting? The process needs a bit of juggling, but will work reasonably well.

Cutting and pasting works here, but indentation is not preserved for second and lower level bullets, but that adjustment only takes a moment. If you are pasting into a bullet chart, I would think you would need to have the Master slide set to the same font and bullets as in the Word doc.

I am not taking the entire word doc, just selective passages. I found that if you exit Powerpoint and return, the formatting seems to automagically resolve itself…???

Curious. Do you think it’s a memory issue?

160 mb RAM, low process usage (lots of resource availability) multiple gb of free disk space….not likely

For whatever reason, if I complete the cut and paste, save the file, close Powerpoint, and reopen it, everything is fine – I just need to search and replace the Word bullets, as they are incompatible with Powerpoint. Kludge, but workable.

Well, it IS the standard MS theory when things go wrong
