AskWoody PlusFebruary 18, 2019 at 9:35 am #328699Susan, your notes about Office updates talk about 2016 and earlier versions, but my organization is now just pushing out Office 2019. Since I’m sure that 2019 has been out for at least a few months, are there downloadable updates for that version, or how will its updating work? Thanks.

ManagerFebruary 18, 2019 at 9:46 am #328703Office 2019 is Click-to-run. The MS pages say this about Office 2019
Office 2019 also includes new IT value for enhanced security and streamlined administration. We introduced Click-to-Run (C2R), a modern deployment technology, in Office 2013, and it’s now used to deploy and update Office across hundreds of millions of devices worldwide. With Office 2019, we’re moving the on-premises versions of Office to C2R to reduce costs and improve security. The advantages of C2R include predictable monthly security updates, up-to-date apps on installation, reduced network consumption through Windows 10 download optimization technology, and an easy upgrade path to Office 365 ProPlus. C2R offers the same enterprise-focused management capabilities as Microsoft Installer (MSI) based products and will also support an in-place upgrade when you move to Office 2019 from older MSI-based products. To learn more, refer to the Office 2019 Click-to-Run FAQ.

ManagerFebruary 18, 2019 at 10:14 am #328725As PK says, click to run is a different beast. You don’t see individual updates, it’s all or nothing. So if February’s office “clump” doesn’t play nice you have to roll back to January’s “clump”.
(Note to self do article on Office 2019 click to run and how you can kinda push off updates on that and how you want to be on the slow channel for that too)

AskWoody_MVPFebruary 18, 2019 at 11:01 am #328770Isn’t there only one update channel for Office 2019?
““PerpetualVL2019” is the only supported update channel for Office Professional Plus 2019 and Office Standard 2019.”

AskWoody_MVPFebruary 19, 2019 at 5:14 am #329141That’s for volume flavor
cunsomer Retail flavor works on the same channels as Office 365 (mostly Monthly)

ManagerFebruary 28, 2019 at 6:00 am #334784You can check Susan Bradley’s Master Patch List for information/status on those patches. For future reference, the link is in the “Master Patch List” button in the Menubar at the top of the blog.
Otherwise, those of us who follow the DEFCON system are waiting to patch until Woody says it’s safe (raises the DEFCON number to 3 or above) and publishes the instructions on ComputerWorls.
