I, too, have a Nexus 6P, and I’ve been using Google Fi. It’s a very nice combination. Paul’s discovered yet another reason to go with Android over iOS

AskWoody_MVPApril 1, 2016 at 4:46 pm #45082Woody, I moved away from Android to iOS few years ago as Android seemed too much trouble. Now they have a companion in Windows 10.
Unfortunately I am somehow stuck with Windows as this is where the income comes from and I invested too much effort in the various Microsoft technologies to move away from them unless it is really a huge shift in the industry.
Otherwise, it would be all Apple or maybe on the desktop I would run one of the RedHat/CentOS distributions. -

Since you seem informed and reasonably concerned with privacy on Windows, and are using Google Fi, maybe you’ve looked into the privacy implications of it…
Verizon recently got smacked down for injecting tracking code into user’s web browsing regardless of their indicated preferences (See the EFF). Is there a similar catch with Google Fi? There always seems to be with Google. Does everything you do online from a Google Fi phone get reported back to the mother ship even if you’ve turned everything off?
Thanks-

GuestApril 3, 2016 at 1:07 pm #45086Google does like to collect personal information, but if they do they will tell you and they won’t ignore the preferences you set (unless there’s a coding error, in which case they will fix it promptly when the error is discovered).
And Google will never sell or share your personal information because it’s the exclusive access to personal information that provides them their competitive edge in advertising.
