    Good day,

I am considering in buying a pda and gps software to run with it. his is a very dangerous question, I Know. Which ones do you prefer and why ? Can a pda have memory added with sd digital card such as the ones from sandisk. I am a proud user of a nikon camera, so can I use the same types of memory cards and is there a limit in memory (ram).
Can gps software run on a laptop and have the same use, finding your way around on the street (by car). Does it make sense to install software (TOMTOM) on a laptop and connect it to a gps antenna (with the software included?). Short run gps software without pda.
Who can give me a clear idea of possibilities.
I ask you users so a salesman has it a bit harder when he wants to sell me the stuff. I don’t like to be a complete rookie.

    Thanks for the advice,
    Jan

You might get better results on one of the specialist GPS forums, such as here?

        John,

thank you for the info I need indeed some more solid information on the subject. As far as i can see now there are indeed receivers on a compact Flash based connector and It could be handy to get a pda which can use secure digital an cf-cards together. I realize I have some surfreading ahead for me.
        Thanks for the input,

      For what it’s worth.

I use Co-Pilot 6 with my iPaq in the UK and I am very pleased with it. I have colleagues who swear by Tom-Tom, but none of us have used both for long enough to do a real head-to-head comparison.

        Stuart,

nice to know there are alternatives and it seems to pick the one which will be the most available in europe would be the best choice.
        Thanks for the input.

You atually may have a bit of an advantage there. Palm has been known to release some models (or models with certain OS’s ) only in Europe and not the states. No one knows why …….
