Hi. I hope someone can give me concise information about setting up a shared folder for MS Word’s “Workgroup Templates.” We are using Office 2007.

I work in a smaller pharmaceutical company, and we would like to establish a shared network folder to hold numerous templates to be used as Word’s Workgroup Templates. The problem I’m facing is that I don’t want them to have the ability to edit any of the templates or documents in this folder, yet I wanted to avoid having all of the leftover temp files that are created when you open a document. (I assume that all of those ~$filename.docx files remain because the group that was created was given R/O privileges, hence no ability to delete them.)

The question then becomes, just what sort of AD group should be created for these Word users to have this Workgroup Templates folder, and, more specifically, what kinds of permissions should it have?

Thanks in advance for your help!
