Hi all. I’m attaching a pivot table in hopes that someone else’s eyes can pick up the problem I’m having. The pivot drop down list for the “month” field is duplicating some of the months and I can’t figure out why. I’m trying to show a co-worker how to use a pivot table and this is just confusing her…and me!

Can anyone shed some light on this?

    TIA,

    Deb

There are 3 rows that contain "April " (with a space after the name). Excel sees these as different from "April". You can use Edit | Replace to change all occurrences of "April " to "April" (don’t include the quotes), then refresh the pivot table.

Thank you Hans. Can I ask, how did you see this? I know Word has the show/hide tool but I don’t know how to pick up on these sort of things in Excel.

I sorted the source table on the month column, then looked at the first and last April items. By pressing F2 I noticed that there was a space after the last one.
