Pivot Table A97 (Access 97 SP3)

Client reports that his Access 97’s pivot table form function doesn’t work. Apparently the form pops up but Pivot Table doesn’t launch. Client reports using Essbase but is not sure if the pivot table function worked prior to addition of Essbase and the last change made was install of Essbase or if there was a security patch applied.

Sorry for the lack of info on this. Will try to get details for a follow up post.

Access 97 (and 2000) don’t have a pivot table function of any kind – the only option is to use CrossTab queries. Access XP added the pivot table and form capability.

As I said, I will try to get details. This is not Office XP as the Access in shop is 97 and 2K. Apparently there is some link (DDE or 3rd party app) that pulls or pushes the data from/to an Excel spreadsheet hence the pivot table reference.

That could well be – the developer may have used Automation to push data to an Excel pivot table as Excel has had that capability longer.
