I’m trying to plot values into a grid or some sort of crosstab query to show compensation and contribution.
Table is set up as follows. ID, name, compensation, contribution.
The values for compensation and contribution are 10,20,&30. For low, medium, and high.
I would like to have the persons name in the field that relates to their level of compensation and contribution.
high compensation/low contribution, low compensation/low contribution etc.
I don’t think Access can show the type of grid I have in the picture but maybe 4 sub reports on a report for each combination.
I’ve playes with some crosstab queries but can’t get the names to show up where Ineed so I’m not sure if this is the way to go.

      1. Do you want to display one such diagram for each person (i.e. just one of the “cells” will be filled with the person’s name, the rest will remain empty), or do you wish to display a diagram in which each cell is filled with a list of persons?

      2. What happens to value 20 (“medium”)?

Sorry but I’m not clear on what you want to show. Would you have a single grid for each person or did you want a grid showing everybody, with each name in the appropriate square? Does the 10, 20, 30 show up anywhere or is that just used to place the name?

        Hans,
The diagram would place each persons name in the grid(cell) that met the criteria for that cell.
For 20,20 maybe I would have to place the values after the name so they could be seen. EG. John Doe 20,20 Dave Smith 20,30

        Charlotte,
I want a grid showing everybody. The values were originally for computing in the queries. They don’t necessarily have to be in the final output. Except for the 20,20 that Hans pointed out.
Do either of you think this is doable?
        Thanks as always
        Scott

If you are going to use a diagram, I wouldn’t put the values after the names. If you would like to keep the 2 x 2 diagram, I would omit the persons with a value of 20 for either compensation or contribution; otherwise, create a 3 x 3 diagram.

Create a query for each of the “cells”, and create a simple columnar report for each of them (create one of them, then duplicate it and change the Record Source for the duplicates). Arrange them as subreports on a main report. If you know beforehand what the maximum number of persons in a cell will be, set the height of the subreports accordingly; otherwise, set their Can Grow and Can Shrink properties to Yes (as well as the Can Grow and Can Shrink properties of the section they’re in.)
