Adaptors are expensive, but it would solve my problem.

If you mean Homeplug, I’ve had three or four ’85’ Mbps ones at home for a couple of years, and one has failed over that period. Just plugged them in and they worked.Very positive about them in a situation where wireless signals are flakey.

Got a pair for work, one of which is a WAP which just gets plugged into a 13A socket in the room where a laptop wants to access the internet. Took the aerial off it to save it getting broken, and it works perfectly without!

I tried a system a few years ago. Hopefully they have improved recently because it was terrible back then. Very intermittent connections, plus, like you stated, more expensive than wireless, which works great for me.

Wireless is definitely preferable if the signal makes it through your walls/floors, just from a cost perspective.
If you have trouble with multi storey coverage, you can sometimes run a cable between floors and put the wireless unit on the other floor.

I have wireless “g”, but it won’t make it into one of the rooms. I’ve used three Belkin Powerline adapters with no problem. One even connects to the Ethernet port on my Dish DVR, so I don’t need to run a phone line for it to “phone home”. These are 10mps, so I envy those with the new 85mbs jobs.
