Whenever I click on a mailchimp link, I get the pr_connect_reset_error on Firefox, and a similar error on Chrome and Safari. I have done quite a bit of Googling on this, tried all the suggestions I could find (clear cache, no proxy, firewall, anti-virus, about:config) without success. Any ideas?

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

GuestJuly 4, 2023 at 4:59 pm #2571139This reads like it could be a problem with Mailchimp’s server or somewhere else in the way to Mailchimp’s content.
Sometimes the “pr_connect_reset_error” message can be caused by a server misconfiguration, and you should seek help from Mailchimp or report it Mailchimp support as a bug.

Perhaps the newsletter publisher/business you are being asked to subscribe to would like to know if they are losing business or readers because of this problem you are having, sometimes a client making a request of the newsletter service can get things moving along.

Do you remember changing any normal OSX network settings or applying any unsupported fixes?
Do you use any Virtual Private Network (VPN) service?
Do you have Avast installed on all your computers?
Are you able to disable HTTPS scanning in Avast’s Web Shield?
Could this be caused by the PepWave SurfSolo router or the Verizon FIOS box that feeds it?
A direct connection to the Verizon FIOS gateway could decide if the PepWave SurfSolo (SoHo?) router is causing the “pr_connect_reset_error”.
Sure you can ask Peplink and Verizon for for help.
Notes:
A faulty SSL certificate, or program library add-on can cause “pr_reset_errors”.Also, from past experience disabling Avast may not completely work as described, there may be lingering protections still in place which may cause odd disruptions.

AskWoody PlusJuly 6, 2023 at 2:19 pm #2571648I used my iPhone hotspot to connect my laptop to the internet. Link worked like a charm. Back to WiFi and same error. So it def has something to do with the WiFi.
Only 2 things there – incoming Verizon FIOS router (WiFi turned off) feeding PepWafe surf solo. Anyone have experience?
Is there a better WiFi/networking board than “Networking – routers, firewalls…” on AskWoody? Just crossposted there.
