With all of your folks help recently I have a very nice up and running database. The problem I have now is the users say it is ugly looking at the Database window in the background. Other than making all my forms full screened. What other ways do you folks use to make the DB more pleasing to the user’s eye? I was just happy that it works, now I have to make it pretty.

    Any suggestions??

      Hey – here’s one I can answer.
To hide the database window, open the form in design view.
      Go to: Tools/Startup
      Uncheck the Display Database Window.

        Great help thanks so much.

But I went a bit crazy and cannot figure out how to show the tools menu again so I can change some items on the startup. Anymore suggestions?

What have you done to hide the tools menu?
Try opening the database with the shift key held down. this bypasses the startup options.

In addition to other suggestions, as long as it hasn’t been disabled in your StartUp options, you can press the F11 key to make the database container window appear. Systems we develop, we normally hide the database window. Then we design forms that are the right size for the display or editing of data based on some minimum screen resolution (often 800×600). We sometimes maximize the window within the Access window just to avoid too much clutter. In those cases we are likely to use pop-up dialog style boxes for some purposes. You might also want to file away for future reference that you can disable the SHIFT key by using some code that toggles that property on and off. In that case you have pretty well locked the average user out of the database window so they can’t do things like deleting forms or tables. However you typically need a back door to let yourself get at the database window. Hope this isn’t too confusing.

Not confusing at all. All this info has been helpful.

            Thank you.

As well as Michael’s suggestion, I make nearly all my forms, and particularly the main menu , full screen.
I put docmd.maximize in the onactivate event for forms.
