    Hello all,
This is probably an easy fix but I can’t seem to find it.
Is there a way to prevent word2000 from automatically creating hyperlinks when an email address is typed? I know you can remove the link afterwards by rightclicking and removing the link. I would like to change the default option to NOT create the link in the first place.
    THANKS—
    –Tim

The hyperlinks are part of AutoCorrect. If you go to Tools/AutoCorrect/Autoformat As You Type, look for the option “Internet and Network Paths With Hyperlinks” and uncheck the box.

Are you typing the path into the document yourself?
If so, try clicking the hyperlink button first, then using the Browse button to click your way to the link. Word shouldn’t have any problem with the spaces if you do it that way.

      Hi walber
Try this – it works on my Word97/SR2
Type the hyperlink with characters around the actual link, e.g. <http://www.some thing.com>
(hey – the lounge software is hijacking my text – I can’t type this text without the forum turning the http://www.some bit into a hyperlink. Sorry about this – don’t know how to stop it)
Select the whole item – including the chars – and click on the hyperlink icon. Word removes the and leaves the rest of the text in the Link to file or URL field.

Type your hyperlink and select it. Ctrl-C to copy it. Then Ctrl-K and Ctrl-V to paste it into the hypelink address. Click on OK and you have your link. (Or you can edit the display text to say whatever you want before you click on OK.)
