How can I save a list of installed programs similar to the Add/Remove Programs list?

Why? Well, I need to perform a reformat-reinstall of XP and some/most of the programs I have installed.

    Many thanks,

Belarc Advisor and others are mention in this thread.

Leif’s right, Belarc Advisor is a good place to start. This is gonna sound silly, but a time or two in the past, when I was faced with this re-install task, I made a screenshot graphic of my full Start Menu and then printed a hardcopy so I could tick-off as I went. The only place where that was a problem was on menu entries where individual programs were “down below” the top level. But I made notes of those on my printed copy and it worked OK for me. (Isn’t it amazing that during a fresh install there’s usually a lot of “chaff” we decide not to re-install!)

Also note that not all installs will add entries to the “Add and Remove” and the Start menu.

Thanks everyone. The Belarc advisor works wonderfully!

In the past, I, too, have done the screenshot-checkoff process. I hoped that there was an easier way … indeed, there is.
