AskWoody_MVPNovember 11, 2017 at 12:42 am #145088We are not seeing this with the latest patched Win 10 1709 ENT or Pro editions on our normal Server 2012 R2 shares.
Starting thinking about it, and created a test share on the server with “negative” permissions (a practice I do not recommend – ever.) Sure enough, I was able to reproduce the problem with pretty much all programs that save a file. The test user had read/write, but nothing could create a new file on the share. Oddly, I could modify (save) a file that already existed.
A negative permission is when you add a user or group to a share with deny permissions. In modern ACL forms deny is assumed anyway – just add users/groups with allow permissions (read, write or both).

GuestNovember 27, 2017 at 4:23 am #147693I’ve experienced this problem on 1709. A few apps including Voice Recorder and Windows Fax and Scan would not open/function because they didn’t have access to My Documents. I also could not save Notepad files to the desktop. It would return a “File not found” error whenever I tried to save. Rolling back to 1703 fixed these issues.

GuestJanuary 8, 2018 at 12:57 pm #157426Got this same problem after upgrading to build 1709. It stopped when I rolled back to the previous build. I later found something online that I thought would fix the issue so I applied the update again and voila, Same issue. I will eventually have to roll back if I don’t find a solution to this problem. It affect Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Does not affect Publisher or Outlook though.

GuestJanuary 9, 2018 at 7:18 am #157683Finally solved it. It had to do with Karspersky ,Win 10 version 1709 and office 2016. Uninstall karspersky and everything works fine. Had a problem with spotlight not loading wallpapers on the lock screen as well but this was also fixed after uninstalling karspersky. Remember, just disabling it wont solve the problem. And as of today, I cannot find an update to karspersky that fixes the problem.
