Problem with a message from Ashampoo Backup 2023:

Hoping I’m not (again) asking something stupid:

When I try to get the program to run, I get a message: “Error starting a Windows component (Volume Shadow Copy Service) that is essential for the backup (error VSS 0x8004230f).
Please restart your computer and try again.”

This happens appx 3min after start and before I start punching buttons, thought I’d toss this out for any comments.

Been a lurker/member since Fred first started his lists.  No smarter, tho…

Here is a troubleshooter from Macrium Reflect, a different backup program that depends on VSS as well. https://knowledgebase.macrium.com/display/KNOW80/Troubleshooting+Microsoft+VSS+errors

If that fails an “install over the top” may fix the issue, but you should make a backup first. Can you boot from the AShampoo recovery media to run the backup (you don’t need VSS then)?
