I understand that .wk1 files are no longer supported by Excel 2007 or 2010. Is there a safe file converter program/utility to download that will make them readable? Or is there a simple fix to Excel?

Can you post a .wk1 file along with the associated .fmt file?

wk1 is a lotus 123 spreadsheet file. Most did not have .fmt files along with them. I did try to attach one to my original post but this system would not allow upload of either a wk1 or .fmt type file!

Just to close this out: I downloaded OpenOffice (free) which has compatibility with MANY programs. I then used it to open each .wk1 file and then save as .xls

Did NOT find a simple converter program, although there were somewhat misleading weblinks to a program that would “scan” and advise the proper application.
