I do hope this is the right forum to post OneNote questions, if not then could the mods please move it. Thanks.

When I download a page or something that I have copied from the web to keep as a OneNote page, some of them contain URL links to other pages that are not in OneNote. When I click on the links in OneNote, I get a message box with a big red X that says – “This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your System Administrator.” This is puzzling, because I am the “System Administrator” and I have done nothing, to my knowledge to restrict this activity on my computer. Is there something I have to set or enable inside of OneNote to enable this feature, or is this just a “undocumented feature” of OneNote that it will not connect to highlighted URLs in pages that have been copied to its Notebooks? Any insight or help that anyone would care to share will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

See if Fix Office Outlook Hyperlink Restrictions Error[/url] helps.

Joe, thanks for the information. I tried this and it does not seem to work. I went in and followed the instructions on the link you posted. When I went back to OneNote, it still didn’t work. I repeated the instructions and when I went back, I found that the “Custom” had reverted back to “Use my current Web browser.” rather than “Internet Explorer” which is what I had selected following the instructions from the link that you gave me. I am guessing there must be something else that I am missing, so it seems that it is back to square one.

No, unfortunately, this is a fix for Outlook and does not seem to know anything about OneNote. This is effectively the same suggestion that Joe put forward and as you can see from my response, it did not seem to work.

Maybe the problems are one and the same, except it does not seem to work as noted in my response to Joe’s posting. Do you have any other suggestions?

        Thanks.
