• Problematic behaviour in IE – dwwin.dll?

    I am helping a brother with some PC problems. Last week I was in his area (south in Sweden), and it happened that I did need some printing to be done. I then used some of his machines, and we discussed some minor problems with the desktop PC in his network. This desktop is used by all family members (mostly the wife), but his main PC is a laptop and that one is working perfectly.

    The first problem at start-up at one account is that desktop.ini opens in Notepad. I also think one of the kids (small) has done some editing smile. Therefore, I sent him a MSKB, recommending him to delete the desktop.ini (and not to show system files on a shared PC …). We will se if he can fix that.

    The other one is more troublesome. There may be other ways to get this error message, I do not know. To show me quickly, he, after a reboot, opened several IE windows. After, say 5-10, he got some error message. I read it briefly (we had little time), but I think the file mentioned was

      I think bring a CD or USB flash drive with a toolkit of AV and spyware scanners and do a thorough clean-out.

        I am not any longer in his area, so I cannot bring over any CD etc. and help in him at site. Well, I will see if I get any more information.
