Can anybody tell me why, it is driving me mad?

On Windows 8.1 up to date

I go on to a web site with JPGs on, sometimes they are OK and other times I get [3.jpg (283.49 KiB) Viewed 12 times]

I have been before and they are OK

There is one site that I have put up JPGs on a site, my own photos, they were OK at the time, I checked
I look to see if any other were added sometime later, and out of 5 photos No 1 OK No 2 is all burred No 3 – 4 have [3.jpg (283.49 KiB)] No 5 is OK.

I have asked others on the site and they say they don’t get any problems with JPGs like me.

I have just checked the site to see if I had got the Photo numbers right, and all photos were showing, but No 2 was still burred, I have checked the original and it is not burred.

Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and click Reset. Reboot and check your add ons as they will have been disabled by the process.

      Hi Calimanco
Thanks for getting back to me
I have both IE11 and Chrome and I have problems with both, I have disabled all add on, and reset to default on both Browsers. I have just tried again and E11 showed all photos but 1 was blurred, Chrome only showed 2 out of 5?

      Hi,
This is just a long shot: I have my own web site and I find that something as simple as typing (in html docs) .jpg instead of .JPG – or vice versa can cause the image not to display; changing to the upper or lower case [as the case may be _ lol] usually fixes the problem. Also correct size and alignment and using an “alt” may sometimes help, e.g. My Home
Just a thought; although if they appear okay on other persons’ computers – I don’t think the aforesaid is the problem. Try right click and click on “source” in the drop down menu; have a look at the html code being used to see if that’s the problem.

      Hi Casso
Thanks for getting back to me

The Photos are put on as Attachments loaded straight on the site?
I have tried the same photos on another computer and they are fine

Try running sfc /scannow from an elevated Command Prompt.

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!

Thanks for getting back to me, I have been told that “Cross posting is usually frowned upon I think Rule 4a in the forum’s Rules and Guidelines covers it”

But thanks for your comments, last posting on this subject

You can post your query on as many website forums as you wish to. It’s all about getting an answer – hopefully the correct one.
You have been badly misinformed in the other forum where you are quoting its rules and regulations regarding cross posting. This refers to asking the same question in the different forums within that website.
This is a totally different website so it doesn’t apply.
However, if you were to post your query in several forums within this website – that would probably be frowned upon also.

Please read Rule 14 at this site. old-n is about to get banned if he carries on like this.

Gentleman can we leave it now please, I will not be doing any more posting on other sites about this OK.

another web site does not take kindly to “pirating another thread!” So, unless you’re Johnny Depp/Jack Sparrow, best to avoid “thread-pirating” on …another web site.

While posting a problem on different websites can be advantageous to the OP because it can increase the number of answers, if a helper on either forum is unaware of what other steps the OP has taken, the helpers will not be aware of the chronological events and they could all end up going around in circles.

When the OP has posted their problem on multiple sites, any advice acted upon should be conveyed to any other helpers and if not, it’s the helper(s) who could frown upon this when they eventually become aware of the multiple posting.

Perhaps this was what whoever informed you had in mind.

Have you been able to resolve your problem ?

In Chrome YES but not IE11

One thing you could try but not sure if it would work as only one pic is being affected and that is in IE – Tools cog – Internet options – Advanced and check the top box for Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.

    • #1494741

Tried “Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.” still the same.

Plus it is two Pics No 1 does not show at all only the name, number 2 just the top inch shows

The one where you just get a name, is there a small box next to it with a black cross in it ?

This could either be a Shockwave or Silverlight problem.

You can reinstall Shockwave from http://www.adobe.com but Silverlight is updated these days through Windows Updates.

This article links to a MS Fixit to repair Silverlight if you want to give it a go http://www.thewindowsclub.com/corrupted-silverlight-installation

Anvi Browser Repair Tool may also be able to sort out your problem but its intermittent nature is a puzzler. http://www.anvisoft.com/browser-repair-tool.html

sudo15, in another place, piggy-backing, posting me too comments, etc. was called thread/post piracy 🙂 Posting similar problems in different web sites — as you said earlier, sometimes can lead to advice, time & sequence, confusion.

This is especially true when cleaning malware from a computer as nothing else should be run unless advised by the lead helper.

To illustrate why we don’t like cross posting, here’s the most recent example elsewhere that I’ve seen; check the other fora listed in #10. On all those sites the OP there has been given roughly the same information/suggestions, how much freely volunteered time has been wasted by this one question?

    • #1494931

I think in all fairness to old-n, the clue may be in the username and if suggestions put forward by others hasn’t worked then you look around for other sources.

I noticed in the Web User two of my suggestions regarding Shockwave and the Anvi Broswer Repair Tool had already been put forward, but I suppose you’re always going to get some duplication and is why the OP should say what has already been suggested and tried, which reinforces Satrow’s question about freely volunteered time being wasted and supports my views on cross posting.

That having been said, I wouldn’t want to put old-n off from asking for help – just that we are given all info so as to try and make progress.

This thread has now turned into a discussion about posting in different communities and beratement instead of suggestions being put forward in an attempt to resolve old-n’s problem, so can we get back to doing what the Lounge is for in helping OPs ?

Before you go, how did you get on with the Silverlight MS Fixit ?

As far as I know, you are still welcome in the Lounge.

old-n, I got a royal short chewing out elsewhere [not here] — that’s why I mentioned post-piracy 🙂 I was making humor here about a brickwall I ran into elsewhere 🙂

Thanks to all these who came back to me.

My problem as gone, on Monday it was there, after Tuesdays Auto update it was gone.

After the down load and reboot it seemed to take ages, I was going to take it into the computer work shop and I thought I would put short cut to the problem to save time, and I could not find it.

I have been over and over again, but it’s gone. Wip-hee

        Thanks again Old-n
