problems with using sleep,restart and shutdown from start menu

I have been trying to reolve this problem for several months now with no luck. When I click on sleep the computer will sleep for about 5 minutes and then reboot by itself. When I click on restart or shutdown I get a totally light blue but nothing happens. I can restart or shutdown by doing a hard restart on power or restart buttons on the computer itself. I used the free edition of windows 10 and have been using it now for several years. Anyone have any thoughts?
