Is it possible to export (or link) information from Project 2000 to Excel 2000? My final intent is to get it into Pocket Excel (PocketPC 2002).

I don’t know about Pocket Excel, however, you can use the Save As option to save Project Data in Excel Format. You would then need to set up the mapping tables as required. If you can’t link directly from Project to Excel, You can link Project to Access and then Access to Excel. I am sure someone will have a better solution.

      Good Luck.

For linking to Excel & access make sure that you select the “Expand Time Phased Data” option under Tools|option|Save. Then set up an export map to export the data you want. I prefer to export to Excel over Access because MSP changes the units for time & duration, while it does not do that when exporting to Excel.

Maybe but it is a PIA to have to deal with the “hrs”, “days”, or “wks” that MSP attaches as suffix to the exported data. Does it do the same thing in exporting to Access?

I usually export to Excel, then link those sheets into access. Within Access queries I filter out those labels. It may seem like a lot of extra steps but it gives me the flexibility I want, and I am more confident about the time units. You may prefer to export to Access directly, then check the units for each record. Time data (duration, etc.) exported to access do not have the unit labels in the data fields themselves, but rather another field is used to indicate what unit is shown.

Be on the look out for Project 2002. It has an option to save as XML which will hopefully have the capability to upload to you Pocket PC!!!! I received the demo version and I am going to see if it works with my HP pocket PC (which already reads Microsoft).

Have you thought about just using Natara Project@Hand. It nicely syncs Project files to your PDA.

      Cheers,
