Public folder calendar side-by-side lost (2003)

I do like the side-by-side view of the calendars in Outlook 2003. I currently have my boss and a public folder calendar in OTHER CALENDARS. I’m not sure how I got the public folder calendar in there because I can’t get a second public folder calendar to view in OTHER CALENDARS. Both calendars sit at the same level (Public FoldersTech). Both calendars list me as an owner. When I click on OPEN A SHARED CALENDAR, I get the address book, but I can’t seem to get past the LOOK IN PUBLIC FOLDERS.

Please help me to add this other public folder calendar to either MY CALENDARS or OTHER CALENDARS.

I’m still learning 2003, and would like to know how you open “side-by-side” Calendars.

I see the same problem when I “open a shared calendar”; I only see the address book. It may be that Shared Calendars are not the same as Public Folder Calendars. Have you tried navigating to the Public Folder calendars and opening them with the right-click menu “Open in New Window”?

Assumptions: I’m on an Exchange server at work and my boss has already given me permission to see her calendar.
Click on “open a shared calendar, ” navigate to her name and a shortcut to her calendar is placed in the Calendar pane on the left-most side of my Outlook. There is a small checkbox next to all the calendars. Check hers and mine, and I can see the two calendars side-by-side.

What’s nice is that I can check and uncheck her calendar as needed.

It appears that if a Public Folder item is not a mail user, it can’t be mapped. My companies Corporate Calendars do not appear in the GAL, so I did this:
in Outlook Folder View, navigated to one of the Corp Cals,
right-clicked it and selected Properties, Summary tab,
added it to Contacts
went into Contacts and copied the actual e-mail address (who knew it had one?)
entered it into the Shared CAlendar Name dialog
No Dice! It didn’t work. The error message is (approximately) “This Calendar cannot be shared because it is not a mail user”.

If you or anyone figure out how to set a Calendar as a Mail User, let me know and I’ll annoy our IS people.

If you add a public folder calendar to the Public Folder Favorites folder, you can then right-click on the calendar in the Favorites folder and choose Add to Other Calendars.

Then it will appear in your Other Calendars section.
