The next to last edition of the newsletter recommended SyncDroid, an app for exporting/importing contacts or messages, among other things. I thought I’d give it a try, but the app didn’t detect my phone.

A video on the SyncDroid website had instructions on various ways to fix this. They included going into Developer options and enabling USB debugging.

I’m currently not sure that I want to enable this, since I don’t know what I potentially could be letting myself in for. I don’t want to break the way anything currently works.

Can anyone explain exactly what Debug mode is, how it works, and whether I need to be cautious about enabling it?

    Thanks.

Don’t do that. Instead, when you connect your phone, choose the “usb connected” message on your phone (usually a notification) and change the USB mode to allow full access.

If this still doesn’t work, try another cable or another PC.

      cheers, Paul
