Hi, I just got Frontpage last month, so everything is new to me. 1 have 3 Questions. 1. Does it matter if you put your description befor or after your keywords in your Meta tags? 2. Every time you update does the search engines have to find you all over or can you even update once you have published to the web? 3. How can you get your website to show up in the search on yahoo, msn,or others for free?
    Thanks for any help.

For meta tags, the proper format is to place the keywords as the last component. For example, you would enter:

Regarding search engines, that’s kind of a crapshoot. The rules change all the time. Some engines allow you to submit a page for crawling once a week, some once a month, it all depends on the search engine. I’ve used WebPosition Gold to automate the process and it seems to work nicely, and also makes suggestions on improving your rankings. It’s not free though.

Check the search engines you are interested in for details. Each one of them has a submission process that varies slightly. Yahoo, for example, has a link at the bottom of their homepage on “How to suggest a site“. MSN’s is buried and I couldn’t find it easily. You’ll find that many prefer that you pay up in advance to improve your rankings, but frankly I think that stinks. You can also find many freeware and shareware utilities that will submit pages for you with a little searching with Google.

      HTH,

(Are you saying you have just installed FP 98, or does the (98) refer to your Operating System?)
