Ok — one of the better things that MS did was to introduce the quickassist program — somewhere over time they thought it was a good idea to turn this into a windows app —

I been helping a friend he  is a cpa — he turned on his hp pro book running win 10 pro and it is up to date — He tried to run a backup and the xml def file was missing. Reflect creates a “reflect” folder in “documents” but “onedrive” seems to know best and resets the location of documents in the onedrive folder — that is a question for another day.

The question today is quickassist — I we tried to set up a QA session but then he started QA on hits laptop it never got past the first screen with the “double window” we able to connect using chrome remote desktop.

Trying to figure out why QA would not start, we went to the MS store looking for an update — none exists – so we uninstalled it (using a uninstaller) — when back to the MS store, found it and added it – no deal – it was still hung up at that first windows — he let it circle – maybe it was doing an up – no deal – it was in that state for over an hour

any suggestions on how to get quickassist to work again?

Has he rebooted his PC? Also it sounds like he may have turned on Onedrive which then relabels all locations and folders and can and often does totally mess up things.

Before you think of deleting One Drive, check where the other personal files are. Are they on the computer or in the Cloud on One Drive?

thank for the info — for the most part there was an issue with onedrive and  the documents  folder  but that has been  fixed —- for onedrive itself  we unlinked the pc and it seems (we could not find it) there  no setting to  control  onedrive starting when the computer is booted up, so we use the feature in norton 360 to disable onedrive from  starting

so, one drive does not start, but  still  quick assist would not start. is  was suggested to use the win10 iso to do a repair, but we are not there yet

since this is win 10 pro, I am going to  create  a 2nd  user and see it quick assist startes there

      thanks for the help
